As a never pass a penny by, stop and pick it up regardless, street penny collector, I am obsessed by lost pennies. For years, I have been thinking about this fixation and recently the piece finally came together. With the lost penny at the core, the installation is built around its stories and environment. The quilted construction is 6’ x 9’ street image and requires 1,944 pennies. Needless to say, I need every lost penny I can get my hands on.

How to help . . .
Get some Penny Packets. The Penny Packet is a device I designed to collect and exhibit the pennies. It is a 2” x 2” zip lock baggie stuffed with a small piece of write on transparent film. On the back of the baggie is a label for you name. Contact me to get your packets.

Penniless . . .
The next time you find a penny – one that was lost, discarded, left behind, and has no value, pick it up and save it for The Penny Project.

A penny for your thoughts . . .
Take a few minutes to think about where you were, what you were doing, or what this penny means to you. Make a note on the write-on film found inside the Penny Packet. The stories will be woven into the final piece.

A penny saved . . .
Sign your name on the back of the baggie and put the penny and your story inside.
